This weekend check out a free and family-friendly event, the 9th Annual CHUM Rhubarb Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 11th Avenue East and London Road. Enjoy a delicious array of rhubarb delicacies, including hundreds of pies, muffins, and crisps as well as rhubarb brats and burritos.A variety of games and crafts, live musical performances, and silent auctions promise a day of fun and entertainment for the entire family. And the best part? Admission is free!

Featured at this year’s on stage musical performances is Duluth's own Charlie Parr, who plays original folk blues and traditional spiritual music.

Food booths will open for visitors starting at 9 a.m. Come out at any time during the event to fulfill your rhubarb cravings. Bea Ojakangas will be selling cookbooks.

There will be a bake sale with hundreds of ready-to-eat and take-and-bake pies, including rhubarb pies, rhubarb strawberry pies, and rhubarb blueberry pies. Other goodies include rhubarb pound cake, muffins, crisps, cakes, breads, strudel bars, preserves, and gluten free treats.  Rhubarb brats and burritos will also be available at the food booths.

An indoor and outdoor coffee shop will be serving fresh-from-the-oven rhubarb cobbler and crisps with ice cream, scones, and slices of pie. Pick up a cup of coffee and enjoy even more rhubarb treats!

There is also a silent auction that will include the works of local artists, gift certificates, and merchandise from area businesses.

The children’s race starting at 9 a.m., and the children’s area includes face painting, bubbles, arts and crafts, and a variety of games.

Local master gardeners will be available to answer growing questions when it comes to raising your own rhubarb plants.
