The city of Duluth is planning to open an area in the Park Point Recreation Area next week where Park Point residents can bring their wood for chipping.

The emerald ash borer was found in four of 35 ash trees inspected on Park Point earlier this year. Hardwood firewood, ash trees, debris or limbs and wood of ash trees cannot be moved off Park Point due to an emergency quarantine so residents will have options of treating their ash trees or cutting them down.

The city will announce this week the dates and times the chipping area will be open.
