The Festival of Sail (or Tall Ships Festival, as it used to be known) is returning to Lake Superior for the summer of 2022, but Duluth will not play host this time around. Another Northland city will step up.

Due to construction projects on the Duluth waterfront area, organizers of the Tall Ships Challenge Race series have made the decision to move the sixth installment of the popular event to Two Harbors.

This is a big deal for Two Harbors, during previous events, the Tall Ships have drawn hundreds of thousands of people into the area each time it happens. Organizers said in an announcement about the move, "Two Harbors has that wonderful small-town charm, yet boasts a stunning, expansive waterfront. Two Harbors’ Agate Bay has extensive dock space for more ships and the event site on land is nearly three times as large as previous years."
