A popular Duluth landmark as an opportunity to earn quite an honor and Northland residents can help make it happen by casting their vote each day.

USA Today has launched their 10Best contest and Fitger's Inn in Duluth is a nominee in the 'Best Historic Hotel' category. The nominees are terrific places from all over the United States, from California to New York and even Hawaii.

According to 10 Best editors, the nominees were chosen by a panel of experts and each are classic accommodations that boast a great deal of history, and "each has held true to its historic roots and unique sense of place."

They add that experts in this category also considered industry awards and guest reviews to determine the 20 nominees.

When it comes to Fitger's Inn, here is what they had to say:

Fitger Brewing Company operated as Minnesota's oldest continually working brewery for 115 years until it closed in 1972. The ten-building property stretching 720 feet along Lake Superior reopened in 1994 as a retail complex with three restaurants and Fitgers Inn. This boutique hotel with 62 unique rooms and suites has indoor access to two nightclubs, a spa, and Duluth's first microbrewery.

Voting is open now through 11:00 am on Monday, August 15 and rules state that you can vote once per day.
