LISTEN: Parody Musician Writes Song About Two Harbors Mayor Chris Swanson
The charming town of Two Harbors, Minnesota has been making waves throughout the United States, due to the antics of the town's Mayor, Chris Swanson.
This past Monday, the Two Harbors city council actually voted to recall Mayor Swanson, according to the Duluth News Tribune. The city has a population of about 3,500 people and more than 20% of the city's voters signed a petition to recall the Mayor.
Mayor Swanson was under fire earlier this year when he proposed an underwater hotel in Lake Superior. He even shared his ideas with a potential investor on the 'Ask A Billionaire' podcast. The reclusive billionaire investor was named Mr. O and the Mayor stated he would invest $400 million towards future attractions in Two Harbors.
He then was under fire again after pursuing cryptocurrency. Again, according to the DNT, a 26-year-old crypto enthusiast reportedly emailed over 2,000 mayors across the United States to talk about the technology. Only one mayor responded back, and of course it was Chris Swanson.
The Mayor now has until May 31st at 4:30pm to resign. If he decides not to resign, a recall election will happen on August 9th where voters will get a chance to say whether or not he should remain in office.
Pennsylvania based parody musician, Sean Kelly took all of this news and did what he does best. He took Gordon Lightfoot's epic ballad 'The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald' and made his own version, 'The Wreck Of The Hotel Chris Swanson'. There's even a verse will talks about Duluth's own Charlie Parr and how he meets a cold demise. Check out the song below:
