One of the things I love about working at Mix 108 is being surrounded by music.

Sometimes I hear a song and it brings me back to the days of my first job.  Ahhh...the summer of 1997.  I was working as a cook, dishwasher, and waitress at the Wyndtree North (now Lakeside View) right off the I-35 exit in Barnum, MN.  We had the Muzak going all through the restaurant--but I'm sure only 14 songs were in the rotation.  Now every time I hear Shangri-La's "Leader of the Pack" I can smell the fryer grease.

Sometimes when I hear a song I associate it with an ex.  When that happens, I usually change the station, leave the store, or pry open the elevator doors in attempt to escape the memories brought on by the horrific sounds.  We won't go too much into detail as to what songs I can't stand to listen to.  I have keep you reading this blog so you can get to the end to watch the video!

One of the things I love most about my job is the music.  New music, new memories, right?  Something the smell of a greasy-spoon kitchen or a nose-picking ex can't touch.

When it comes to hearing a new song for the first time, there are a few different ways I digest my music.  The first, is downright dislike for the song.  Chances are after that first initial listen, I note that it irritates me and make a face every time it comes on the radio after that.  The second way (which is usually what happens to me) is when the song takes a while for it to grow on me.  I barely notice it the first time I hear it, but I pick up the hook.  "Yeah, it's kinda catchy," I think.  The second time I hear it a bell or two goes off, then by the third time I'm totally diggin it.

The third and most elusive way my musical preferences take shape is the immediate "I LOVE THIS SONG" feeling.  You know what I mean, right?  Well, I had one of those moments today.  And I love this song so much I wanted to share it with you!

Now, watch this video, download it and put it on your mp3 player (legally, of course,) and make some good positive memories!!
