It's that time again: the Old Farmer's Almanac has released their predictions for what lies in the month ahead. As we head into May of 2021, they are laying out their predictions for what we can expect in the Twin Ports in terms of weather.

At first glance, things are looking good for the Duluth and Superior area. According to their predictions, we will see sunshine and warm temperatures for the first few days of May.

Things will change a bit from May fourth through the ninth, as the Old Farmer's Almanac predicts periods of rain and cool conditions. From the tenth through the eighteenth, things will clear up. We can expect sunshine, with cooler conditions to the east of the region.

From May nineteenth through the end of the month, we will see thunderstorms before wrapping up the month with sunshine and hot temperatures. Now that is music to our ears!

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, we will also see above average temperatures for the Twin Ports and slightly below-average precipitation. This is especially interesting considering April was such a rainy month for the Twin Ports. About seventy-five percent of the month was gloomy and rainy! That means many May flowers are on the way.

This forecast lines up with what the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center recently reported on. They reported recently that as we head into May, things will calm down from our La Niña winter event.

The only bummer is that May will be a bit rough for those with allergies. A new report says this allergy season will be longer and worse than usual. It will be worth it if we see a hint of summer, though!
