Minnesota Weather Fans Can Meet a Tornado Legend
In the world of extreme weather chasing, there is one name that consistently rises above the rest, and a big part of that reputation has to do with the unforgettable vehicle he uses to intercept tornadoes that turn heads wherever he goes.
Extreme meteorologist and storm chaser Reed Timmer has intercepted more than 1,000 tornadoes throughout his career. If you have ever seen jaw-dropping video captured from near, or even inside, a tornado, there is a strong chance it came from Timmer and his custom-built, tank-like Dominator vehicle.

The Dominator 3 Is Built for the Unthinkable
The current generation of the vehicle, the Dominator 3, is designed to do what no ordinary storm chasing truck can. It is packed with high-resolution cameras to capture every angle of the storm, loaded with state-of-the-art meteorological sensors, wrapped in armored plating, and capable of anchoring itself to the ground using hydraulic spikes.

Since 2020, the Dominator 3 has driven directly into ten tornadoes. That record has earned Timmer the unofficial but widely accepted title of the storm chaser who has been inside more tornadoes than any human in history.
A Minnesota Stop for a Heart-Pounding Live Event
Now Minnesota weather fans have a chance to hear these stories firsthand. Timmer is bringing his new live event, Dominate the Storm: A Heart Pumping Evening With Reed Timmer, to the Ames Center in Burnsville on January 23. Tickets for the event are on sale now for $55.
The show combines dramatic video footage with behind-the-scenes storytelling, breaking down how these storms form and what it takes to safely document some of the most powerful forces on Earth.
Minnesota’s Own Brush With Extreme Weather
Just last year, Timmer was in Minnesota when he encountered what he described as the most insane tornado of his career. That close call happened in late June during an outbreak that produced nearly 50 tornadoes across the state.
For Minnesotans who remember that volatile stretch of weather, Timmer’s visit offers a rare chance to relive the science, danger, and awe of tornado chasing through the eyes of someone who has gone where few ever will.
