Is The West Duluth Charley’s Philly Steaks Closed For Good? Here’s What We Know
I recently went to get a philly cheesesteak at Charley's in West Duluth and the lights were shut off.
One of my favorite types of food is a philly cheesesteak. I was absolutely crushed when Steak Escape closed in the food court of the Miller Hill Mall (yes, there is one connected to the Taco John's in Cloquet). Charley's then took over the location and it was slowly winning me over. Then that location closed and Yu & J's Grilled Subs opened up shop in the food court.
Yu & J's had Korean BBQ sandwiches and they were delightful. Unfortunately, it closed the same year it opened in 2018, and Great Steak took its place. Great Steak was dubbed as "America's Premier Cheesesteak". The location in the food court is now home to TK Sushi, which opened up last year.
Construction started for the West Duluth Charley's location in 2016. The fast food chain was connected to the Minit Mart at 231 North Central Avenue. The location has also been home to popular restaurants in the past such as: Taco Bell, White Castle, and Kosta's Gyros.
I recently went to get a sub for lunch, due to my love of philly cheesesteaks. When I pulled into the parking lot, the lights were off and there was a sign on the door that said "Charley's will be closed until further notice". Another sign below it said, "Sorry for the inconvenience".
I have no idea what happened, but I am intrigued. I enjoyed getting my fix of philly cheesesteaks in West Duluth.
