As life gets back to normal, things will start getting busy again at Zeitgeist Zinema 2, and they have a new operations manager to lead them forward.

Milwaukee native Dennis F. Johnson, who has lived in Minnesota for three years and in Duluth for the past year, will take over the day-to-day operations of the theater which has been closed for over a year.

Johnson has over 20 years of management experience, much of that in the theater and hospitality industry, he is a professional theater artist and is one of the founding members of the UPROOTED theater, at the time of its founding, it was the only professional, Black-founded and run theater company in Wisconsin.

Johnson lives on the East side of Duluth with his boyfriend, Ernest and is the Co-Chair of the Duluth Superior Pride committee. "Three random facts about me: I always use my middle initial (F. for Florian after my grandpa), I am a total musical theater nerd (Evita is my favorite show), and I consume more caffeine than I probably should (coffee and Reece’s peanut butter cups are the way to my heart)," said Johnson.

Zeitgeist Zinema 2 said last week that they are unsure when they will be able to begin regular screenings again, they say, "The pandemic has really turned the film industry on its head, especially for small and indie theaters."

Despite the fact that they aren't doing any screenings right now, they do have a virtual rental program that supports them directly, and they are available for private rentals.
