It was a cold morning, and there was plenty of fresh snowfall, but the Fitger's 5K still went on strong, and with a course record broken in the process.
Despite the fact that Duluth broke the old record set in 1950 (31.6 inches of snow) for April snowfall the show (show meaning the Fitger's 5k) must go on!
Even with the new record amount of snow, the annual 5k through downtown is continuing.
If you're going to be out and about on Saturday morning (April 20th) you should be aware of these detours through downtown due to the 24th Annual Fitger's 5K.

Registration is now open for the 2013 Fitger’s 5K Run & Walk, scheduled for Saturday, April 20. The Fitger’s 5K field is limited to the first 1,800 entrants – a registration cap that was reached one month prior to the 2012 race.
A record 1,848 people registered for Saturday’s 23rd annual Fitger’s 5K Run & Walk in downtown Duluth.
Mike Reneau , 34, of St. Paul, claimed the men’s division title, winning in 15 minutes and 10 seconds, just two seconds off of the course record (Jeremy Polson, 2002, 15:08).
