Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Kirk Cousins was asked by KFAN's Dan Barreiro about Aaron Rodgers taking the hallucinogenic ayahuasca, and his answer surprised me.

Cousins is generally the most boring, robotic, dad-type dude I've ever seen in the NFL, so for him to not rule out taking a psychedelic drug for an edge at winning a Super Bowl or being named MVP is certainly noteworthy.

When asked if he would ever take such a substance, Cousins said, "I'm trying to win an MVP and a Super Bowl and he's got a few MVPs and a Super Bowl, so I'll drink just about anything if it guarantees me that." Barreiro quickly follows up with "So, you won't rule it out?" This is where Cousins starts to show his normal awkward self by bringing up another topic.

Captain Kirk proceeds to tell a story about a dude in Michigan that made him a "Minnestoa Cocktail", which he said included "orange juice, crushed ice, and a couple of other ingredients." Ummmmm, OK. Cousins confirmed that "Mr. Minnesota" Adam Thielen had never heard of the drink, and neither has anyone else, Kirk.

This all stems from an appearance Rodgers made on 'The Aubrey Marcus Podcast' where he admitted to going to an ayahuasca retreat in 2020 located in Peru. The drug is drunk and often used for religious, and medicinal purposes in South America.

Rodgers said that it, "help me see how to unconditionally love myself. It’s only in that unconditional self-love that then I’m able to truly be able to unconditionally love others. And what better way to work on my mental health than to have an experience like that?"

Now I doubt that Cousins would ever in a million years do something like this, but if he doesn't accomplish either of those things this season, he may be booking a trip to Peru with #12 next off-season.

Also, Barreiro might want to take a COVID test as it was announced today that Cousins will miss the Vikings' first preseason game because he just tested positive for it.
