According to Fox 21 owner Bob Jansen stated that younger gay people don't feel as threatened as they did 20 or 30 years ago and feel comfortable going almost anywhere, which makes a club like his lose some support from the community.

Jansen was a true trailblazer taking a chance on opening the first  gay bar in the Northland. Throughout the 34 years that he owned and ran The Main Club he is also known for being an advocate for the community and also always willing to help others through fundraisers and events.

Jansen says he will most likely close his doors after the 31st Annual Duluth/ Superior Pride Festival which is Labor Day weekend.
