Severe Thunderstorms and Tornadoes Sweep Through Northern Minnesota on Last Day of Spring 2016 [VIDEO + PHOTOS]
While it was technically the last day of spring, sweltering summer-like heat and humidity spawned a line of severe thunderstorms that dropped hail reportedly as large as baseballs in some areas of Northern Minnesota and produced a couple tornado warnings - one in the Brainerd area and the other near Grand Rapids.
Brittney Gilchrist captured video of a tornado and funnel cloud near Grand Rapids yesterday around 6:30 pm (seen below). Storm reports for this same storm say that a handful of buildings were damaged between Jacobson and Swan River. Twin Ports area storm reports included golf ball-sized hail near Carlton and Wrenshall Sunday night.
