Vaping.  Juuling.  Suoring.  The terms may have been foreign to most people a few short years ago, but their use has increased exponentially recently - especially among teenagers.  In fact, the National Institute on Drug Abuse says that E-cigarette use by teenagers has increased 900% in the last four years; numbers like that suggest that we are in the midst of an addiction epidemic - one that is often seemingly-invisible to parents.

To battle the front lines, the Superior Police Department has scheduled an information session for Wednesday, April 1 - 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mariner Medical Clinic.  Three professionals who deal with vaping issues will present information:  Jane Larson - a Social Worker at Superior Senior High School, Tanya Nelson - from Project Reach Out at the Human Development Center, and Lisa Freier, RN - a public health nurse with the Douglas County Department of Health and Human Services.   The informational talk is geared towards both parents and teenagers.

During the session, the professionals will share data about health risks, addiction, and general information about the vaping crisis.  Parents will learn about the signs to look for to determine if their children are vaping, and how to approach and discuss the issue with teenagers.
